  • Poor Old Tom

    1/8/90

    G

    Poor old Tom was a

    C D

    dirty old man,

    G

    Spent his life w/ his

    CD

    cock in his hand.

    G

    But now he old and

    CD

    dusty and grey,

    G

    Things don’t seem to be

    CD

    going his way

    G

    He’s a rich man, he’s

    C

    got more than enough

Of G wine & woman and all

    that stuff

    G

But even for him life seems

    C

    to be tough, cause

    G

    By the time he was

    CD

    old enough to get it,

    G

He was too old to get

    D

    it up.

    G

By the time he was rich

    CD

    enough to get it,

    G

He was too old to get it

    CD

    up

    G

By the time he was C old enough

    to get it,

    G

He was too old to C get it D up.

  • On It

    12/27/90

(Top note: Capo at 3rd fret)

    Some D people get lots

    of A7 pain in life

Em Lots of trouble, lots of Em sorrow,

    D There’s not much to A7 my

life, just Em today and C tomorrow

    D I see them standing A7 there

    gon the curb, Em crying

Over C heart break & sorrow

D I’ve got nobody A7 in my life,

Don’t Em worry if she’ll leave

    me C tomorrow.

    $\phi$ Chorus

    Maybe I A7 feel lonely,

sometimes, but C at least I’m Em free

I D see them drag each A7 other all

around, A7 all over A7 town

Em no one’ll C ever own me,

    Em no one’ll C ever ~~own me~~.

    $\phi$

    maybe D someday I’ll

    want A7 somebody, but

    for now it’s just my

    songs and the,

Its Em good to be Em free

Its Em good to be Em lonely

Its C so good to be G free.

    I G don’t care what the

    C people say, G I never cared

    about them C anyway

    my G lady will stay

    forever, C I know G her

love will C never ever fade

    $\phi$

    and G when we’re ~~she’s~~ cracked

    and C dry and cold

    will G still have each

other to C hold, D forever & ever

G me and my C mannequin

G me and my C mannequin.

    But G our love

    grows stronger

    C day by D day

    $\phi$

    Maybe G my lady

    don’t C talk too much,

    but she G knows just

    where to C touch me

    all the D time!

    ~~and our love grows~~

    ~~stronger, day by day~~

  • What She Said

    12/26/90

    The little old lady

    from Pasadena tapped me

    on my shoulder.

    “What,” I said, “I don’t

    need a car, I’ve already

    got one.”

    “No,” she said, “It’s

    not that, sonny,

    How’d you like to

    see my tits?”

    Somewhat startled

    by the peculiar demands

    of this sweet little

    blue haired grandmother,

    gripping wicker purse.

    I replied,

    “I’d really rather

    not;”

    But she said,

    “What, you some

    kind of fruit?”

    “No,” I replied “I think

    it’s something else, I’d

    feel guilty.”

    “Fine,” she said,

    “Be that way. There’s

    plenty of men in this

    town!”

    (Chord markings included above lines)

    Chorus:

    G

    I’m falling in love

    C

    Love w/ a mannequin

    G

    I’m falling in love

    C

    w/ a mannequin

    G

    a love much greater

    C

    than any

    that I’ve ever

    D7

    known before…

I Well I’m falling in love

    w/ a mannequin

    G

    Her body is cold,

    C

    but her big heart

    G

    is so much warmer

    C

    than any that I’ve

    D7

    ever known before

    (repeat chorus)

II The G people on the

    C

    street just stop and stare

    They G don’t understand us

    C

    anywhere

    But G our love

    grows stronger

    C day by D day

    Maybe G my lady

    don’t C talk too much,

    but she G knows just

    where to C touch me

    all the D time!

    ~~and our love grows~~

    ~~stronger, day by day~~

    $\phi$

    I G don’t care what the

    C

people say, G I never cared

    about them C anyway

    my G lady will stay

    forever, C I know G her

love will C never ever fade

    $\phi$

    and G when we’re ~~she’s~~ cracked

    and C dry and cold

    will G still have each

other to C hold, forever & D ever

G me and my C mannequin

G me and my C mannequin.

  • The Day After Christmas

    12/25/90

    (Chord above line 1: C9)

    Well, maybe God’s

    (Chord above line 2: F9)

    just like Santa Claus,

    (Chord above line 3: C9)

    Old man, big white

    (Chord above line 4: F9)

    beard and everything.

    Ch. (Chorus)

    (Chord above line 6: C)

    But I know that there’s

    (Chord above line 7: A)

    no Santa Claus,

    (Chord above line 8: C)

    But I know that there’s

    (Chord above line 9: A)

    no Santa Claus…

    Everybody wants something

    F

    (Chords above line 1: C9, F9)

    Both of them, sitting

    on top of the world,

    (Chord above line 3: C9)

    Got a big book, our

    (Chord above line 4: F9)

    souls wrapped up inside

    (Chords above line 5: C7, F9)

Big Brother knows just who’s naughty

    and nice.

    Ch. (Chorus)

    (Chord above line 8: C)

    But I know that there’s

    (Chord above line 9: A)

    no Santa Claus,

    (Chord above line 10: C)

    But I know that there’s

    (Chord above line 11: A)

    no Santa Claus…

    (Chords above line 12: C9, F9)

    Everybody wants something

    (Chord above line 13: C7)

    from Santa Claus,

    (Chords above line 14: C7, F9, C9)

But they gotta go to the mall

    (Chords above line 15: C9, E9)

    Everybody prays to God,

    (Chords above line 1: C7, F9)

But we can’t get love from

    (Chord above line 2: C7)

a big white man, got to

    (Chords above line 3: F9, C9)

    love each other instead.

    Ch. (Chorus)

    (Chord above line 5: C)

    But I know that there’s

    (Chord above line 6: A)

    no Santa Claus,

    (Chord above line 7: C)

    But I know that there

    (Chord above line 8: A)

    ain’t no God

    (Chords above line 9: C, F)

    Can’t love our dream imagination,

    (Chords above line 10: C, G)

Got to love each other instead

    Can’t love a big white

    (Chords above line 12: F, C)

guy in a tacky red suit,

    (Chords above line 13: C, G)

    Gotta love each other instead.

  • Jesuits

    12/22

    I remember the

    day I gave up.

I tried to be a good

    Catholic, I really did. When

    I was thirteen I had

wanted to be a priest even,

    and not just some run

    of the mill parish priest,

    but a Jesuit!

    I used to say five

or even ten Hail Marys and

    Our Fathers and a decade

    of the rosary every day

    just to save the world.

    But then something

    happened. It fell down like

    a huge wall between me

    and what I was supposed

    to be.

  • Loser

    11/21/90

    I am an

    English major,

    Welfare pays too little

    Jesus stole

    my girlfriend

    I’m jealous

    Don’t feed the parrot

    before you put it

    On your shoulder

    12/1 Somehow Jim had

    never kissed a girl. His

    friends thought it was

    strange, “aren’t you

    supposed to get through

    that in the seventh

    grade?” They were

    embarrassed, “Just don’t

    tell anyone.”

    But his family was

    supportive. His grandfather

    would say, “Who in

    would want to kiss

    anyone, it’s disgusting,”—

    his grandmother would

    say “You have plenty of

    time.”

    And Jim just shrugged

    his shoulders and said,

    “Whatever!”

    12/3 Connie Cowboy

    I was a Communist

    Cowboy,

    Ridin’ the wide open

    range,

    I always thought

    I was Marxist, but

    the others just

    thought I was just strange…

    everybody loves a good hamburger.”

    12/6 The Children’s Song

    I can hear a thunder

    cros the ocean

    I can smell the

    smoke hanging in the air

    They say the guns

    might be a blarin’

    For the first time in

    many a year.

    (Chord markings above text: A, C, G)

    Page 6 (IMG_20260809_095649883.jpg)

    And it just makes me

    cry

    To think that I might

    die, bleeding in a desert,

    Bleeding your black gold

    and it just makes me

    cry

    If this is it, is

    I don’t need television,

    for myself, I’ve got

    toothpaste teeth and eyes,

    don’t tell me my mama

    taught me how to laugh

    when I was five.
